Pretty Work Outfit? No Problem.

While at times, nothing beats yoga pants and flip flops, at heart, I am a dresses and heels kind of girl. Even though I could technically wear my pajamas to the office if I felt like it (although I might get a few strange looks!), I prefer to pick out a pretty dress. Even though I do drop off at pre-school on my way to the office, I still manage to walk down stairs, carry lunchboxes and art projects, and even carry little girls (and at times, two at a time – but that’s a situation for another entry!) in heels. Here is what I pulled together today:

Makeup:

I typically go for a soft, natural and romantic makeup look. Soft pinks and taupes. And of course, always mascara – it’s just a must! I am a big fan of the Urban Decay Naked palettes. Today, I played makeup artist from the Naked eyeshadow palette #1. This palette has pretty golden hues. I chose some of the lighter colors to blend together. I always feel more like a makeup artist when I blend some colors together – Even if I don’t totally know what I’m doing! Probably how my toddler feels when she plays with my makeup, to an extent. I finished the look off with a sheer wash of lip color from a Tarte lip crayon. Pretty and easy.

Shoes:

Yes, I am discussing shoes before the outfit because shoes really do MAKE the outfit. Don’t you agree? I like to mix designer with non-designer in my outfits for a balanced look that also makes me feel like a savvy shopper. I am wearing black patent leather peep-toe pumps by Steve Madden. I LOVE peep-toes. They dress up an outfit, and add a little playfulness. Plus, these happen to be super comfy.

Outfit:

This is an amazingly comfortable Ella Moss dress with a cute ruffle down the entire front. I actually picked it up at a sample sale not too long ago. I was pregnant at the time, so I just had to hope that it would fit. It is a little chilly in the mornings, even in Los Angeles… And I’ll admit, anything below 70 degrees is sweater weather for me. I topped the dress with a mid-sleeved sweater hoodie. The zipper, pockets and hood add a feel of California casual to the otherwise dressier dress.
